Before You Compare

How do I choose coverage for my parents?
There's no single right amount. Check the overall limits a plan offers at your parent's exact age. That limit is a ceiling, not a payout. Also weigh the deductible, whether the plan pays fixed amounts or a percentage, and how it treats health conditions your parent already has. Our guide walks through it: how much coverage parents need.
Does visitor insurance cover pre-existing conditions?
A pre-existing condition is a health problem that existed before the plan started; each plan writes its own definition and lookback period. Check the plan's exclusions and any acute onset benefit, a narrow benefit for a sudden flare-up rather than ongoing care, including its age rules and limits. See pre-existing conditions explained.
What's the difference between fixed-benefit and comprehensive plans?
A fixed-benefit plan pays up to a set dollar limit for each covered service, however big the bill; you pay the rest. A comprehensive plan pays a percentage of covered charges after the deductible, up to its maximum, and exclusions and benefit limits still apply. Compare what you'd pay on a large bill. See fixed-benefit vs. comprehensive visitor insurance.
Can I buy visitor insurance after my parents arrive?
Some plans allow it. A new policy does not cover earlier uninsured days. Check when coverage can take effect; a selected date alone does not guarantee coverage. Before paying, check the plan's eligibility rules and any waiting period for late buyers. Don't assume symptoms or bills that began before the start date are covered. See buying visitor insurance after arrival.

What Travelers Say

I have bought comprehensive insurance from SimplyGlobal three times. The reason I keep coming back to them is because they have made a typically painful process of selecting the right policy exceptionally easy and simple. I was able to quickly narrow down my choices to just two options, compare them, and place an order - all in literally 10 minutes. Couldn't be simpler!
